Our Aims

The Objectives of the Fairness IChild Support (F.I.C.S.) group are to:

1)     Promote the welfare and care of children of separated parents.

2)     Challenge the cultural bias that devalues the role of the Non-Custodial Parent in the life of the child.

3)     Strengthen the role and influence of Non-Custodial Parents in the lives of the children and reverse the trend towards the formation of a new stolen generation of children.

4)     Lobby for legislative reform in Family Law that will have a measurable improvement in the well being of children of separated parents.

5)     Call for a Royal Commission into the activities of the Child Support Agency and a moratorium on collections by the Child Support Agency pending the outcome of the inquiry.

6)     Encourage research into the unintended and undesirable consequences of the legislation. This research is to focus on the policies, actions and decisions of the:

·                    Child Support Agency.

·                    Family Law Courts.

·                    Department of Community Services.

·                    CentreLink.

·                    Other Government Departments and Community Agencies that impact on the well-being of the children of separated parents.

7)     Communicate this information to people of influence within the Government and the Community, and to educate the Community on issues in Child Support and Family Law.
